Pears are in season!

Pears are currently so fantasticly cheap that I buy them in buckets. Well, it doesn’t mean we should eat a bucket full of them but pears are a great, tasty and very healthy food source especially in the cold autumn and winter month. Pear Buckets by Sandy BröckingWhy not replace your cake, biscuit or chocolate bar with a wonderful sweet, juicy and fresh tasting pear?

So why?

Did you know that pears carry a lot of vitamin C, E and B2which is a great source to help protect your body from the common ‘winter’cold. Most of these vitamins are contained in the skin of the pear and it’s recommended not to peel them but to give them a good wash instead.

Pears are considered hypoallergenic and are known to be helpful in weight loss.

They are high in fibre which is great for digestion and can even help to protect our body from developing colon cancer.

Pears are also known to help lowering high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol. In addition they are known to reduce inflammation of colitis, gout or arthritis.

What do you think? Is it worth swapping you sugary, fatty high calorie chocolate bar to a nutritious, low calorie, healthy, juicy, fresh and tasty pear?

Well, it’s cheaper anyway …

Enjoy a wonderful weekend
