Hello everyone,
Just dried myself off from today’s rescue mission:
Today was one of these beautiful sunny days where you just have to go out for a walk. On the way to the local shops my friend and
me spotted a duck couple right next to a deep drain. Because they looked a bit lost, we decided to have a closer look. There were twelve little ducklings swimming in the drain and mum and dad were obviously trying to get them out.
To help a bit we put a plank that we found into the drain to help the ducklings walk out. Then we went to the shops.
About two hours later we went back the same way. Mum and dad duck were still next to the drain and seemed very worried. Getting closer we noticed all twelve ducklings were still caught in the drain.
Right – off came the shoes and socks and up went the pants and the two of us jumped into the muddy, slippery drain to rescue twelve little ducks. You won’t believe how “good” it felt.
With twelve rescued ducklings a very relieved and proud mum and dad walked off. I think their “Quak, quak” meant “Thank you”.
Can we learn from this? Yes!
Can you imagine that if sometimes we have a closer look we might find many things we can do to help others. Often it does not even need
to be a big thing. Sometimes even a smile or a friendly word can be worth more than thousands of dollars.
All we need to do is get out and keep our eyes a little bit open for the world we live in.
The other thing I learned is: That helping others and contribution equals happiness and believe me “happiness” is a great weight loss therapy. Try it out!
By the way, every one keep doing your exercise to be ready to jump into the drain whenever necessary …
Happy duckling day
Sandy
